Alyssa was granted a wish from Make A Wish. She could travel anywhere. Do anything. Meet anyone famous. Her choice. She decided to have a well built for a village in Africa. This was inspired by the Matthew West song “Do Something” and the book “A Long Walk To Water” by Linda Sue Park.
Make A Wish generously fulfilled this wish! Now, the village of Murehwa, Zimbabwe has fresh, clean, water flowing from a new well. Thank you, Make A Wish for making Alyssa’s wish come true!

Alyssa’s Youth Minister interviewed Alyssa. The video will be used at the youth retreat. Alyssa will be unable to attend the retreat as she is scheduled to be inpatient at the hospital receiving treatment. She is grateful to be able to participate in the retreat through the video.

Alex’s Lemonade Stand featured Alyssa as one of its “Childhood Cancer Heroes” as it kicked off Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Childhood Cancer Awareness Month brings attention to the issues of pediatric cancer each September by urging people to wear gold, lobby elected officials for research funding, and provide support to childhood cancer research charities.
Alyssa was selected to serve as the Hero representing children battling medulloblastoma, the type of brain cancer Alyssa has.
